Google is offering free call anywhere in the US from Gmail for the year 2010. Log into your Gmail (if you have one) and download and install their "GoogleTalk" app and you're set to dial from your Gmail account.

To the OP I am quoting or to anyone else who reads this post do you know why anyone would want to dial any US number using GoogleTalk.
To the OP or to anyone else who reads this post if anyone wanted to use GoogleTalk where does a person find the GoogleTalk app in their Gmail account and is the GoogleTalk app just for cell phones that have a internet service a person pays for on a cell phone.
I asked the above things just in case anyone who reads this thread wanted to know more about the above things I asked.
To the OP do you use GoogleTalk and that is why you started this thread and if you do use GooglTalk how long have you been using it.

I would like to know if it is easy to set up. It is interesting and I just might try it this week as one of my sons is out of town and we do not have a national calling plan for our cell phone. This might just come in handy.

To the OP do you use GoogleTalk and that is why you started this thread and if you do use GooglTalk how long have you been using it. I used it on Wednesday. After you download the app, just log on to any of your Gmail accounts (if you have any) and there will be a pop-up on the left menu showing you where to dial. You can't miss it. I didn't need any cell phone to use or enter any personal information, other than my Gmail account username and password. I also have no Google Voice account connected w/ the Gmail I used to make the call. Just "click" and "dial." It's that simple. This might just come in handy. I called Meritline Customer Service (626 area code) on Wednesday. The call was clear. The app is easy to setup. Just download the app and install it. Restart your browser, log on to Gmail and it should show you a pop up to make the dial. It's really convenient for me, because sometimes I can't use Skype (as I have only a free account) to make local or national calls that aren't "toll-free."
