food stamps are almost like free money for groceries. To the member I am quoting how can food stamps be almost like free money for groceries. What I am asking is why is food stamps not always free money for groceries to people who are able to get food stamps? Are food stamps not always free money for groceries because tax payers in each state that offers food stamps help to give people food stamps. If I am wrong on what I said than let me know this.

ever since I started couponing I have really learned a lot about using them and building up a small stockpile for things that we use and now I have a good stockpile of laundry supplies, deoderant and shampoo.... among a few things for the kids treats for the summer. I love sunday mornings when I go out and get my sunday papers and then start my coupon shopping lists for the week.

To the member I am quoting how long have you been couponing even if you have been couponing on and off. To the member I am quoting is stockpiling the only thing you have learned from couponing and if what I asked is not the only thing you have learned from couponing than what else have you learned from couponing. If you are ok sharing this than what types of laundry supplies are you referring to in the quote I am quoting from you, how much deodorant do you have in a stockpile and how many bottles of shampoo do you have in a stockpile.

I started couponing last December, after seeing Extreme Couponing for the first time. I dont go extreme but I do use them to build up a small stockpile of things that we need and use around the house and this way I am not running out of things right away. I have learned how to use my coupons towards sales items and then be able to get more than what the item originally cost...and even better I am not only getting store brands anymore, I am getting name brand with box tops so I can contribute them to my sons school. I go with the coupons now, not loyal to any brand but my laundry soap is All, Tide and Purex, I have 6 bottles now --1 open and 5 in my stockpile. my deodorant I have 5 sticks and my hubby has 2....and my shampoo/conditioner I have 6 bottles of each. So we are stocked up for the rest of the year. I didnt get any of my items for free except toothbrushes, I got about 6 free toothbrushes and some toothpaste for the kids for .50 each -- about 3 of those. You can stack manufactured coupons with Target coupons --also Kroger, mperks from meijers, and walgreens and use 2 coupons for 1 item which is great. I am also just starting to learn how the catalina coupons work as well....this is still new to me but will be great when I get it all figured out.

To the member I am quoting how were you able to get about 6 toothbrushes for free. To the member I am quoting how did you learn the following thing you said. I am referring to learning to being able to use 2 coupons for 1 item. I didn't know the owner(s) of Target offered coupons.-You can stack manufactured coupons with Target coupons --also Kroger, mperks from meijers, and walgreens and use 2 coupons for 1 item which is great. To the member I am quoting I don't recall ever hearing of catalina. Is catalina a retail store or something else. If catalina is not a retail store than what is catalina.

ok, there are two examples that I have done last week that can explain... chex mix snacks bags are normally 2.39 at meijers, only last week they were in the 10 for $10 sale making them a dollar a bag... I had a coupon for $1 off 2 making them .50 each -- I got 4 bags for 2.00 and the original price was 2.39 a bag. another was the chi chi salsa jars that are normally 1.89 a bottle -- they were on sale for 4 for $5 making them 1.25 a jar.... the coupon I had was for .50 off 1 and the store doubles coupons up to .50 --making my coupon $1 off and the jars of salsa were .25 after coupons...getting 4 jars for $1 --less than the original price.
the toothbrushes were on sale for .99 each and I had $1 off reach toothbrushes -- so I got them for free.
I learned to stack coupons from coupon sites --there are a ton out there.
a catalina is a coupon you get back after your receipt is printed...if you buy so many of one sale item you will get a catalina to use toward your next purchase....like a few days ago I got 20 yoplait light yogurts using coupons and the sale was 10 for $5, I had a .50 off 8 coupon which they doubled getting 10 for $4 but if you purchased 19 or more you get a $2 catalina coupon to use on your next order -- I have $3.25 to use toward my next order that was basically cash back for purchasing their sales items.
I hope that helps.

To the member I am quoting when you bought chex mix snack bags when they were on sale for $1 a bag than how many ounces were each check mix snack bags and did you use two coupons to buy 4 check mix snack bags. If you did use two coupons to buy chex mix snack bags than were you able to use both coupons on the same receipt or did you have to separate some of what you bought so two receipts printed out in the same store on the day you bought chex mix snack bags. To the member I am quoting when you were able to get toothbrushes for free than did you have to pay sales tax on the toothbrushes. To the member I am quoting is stacking coupons just using more than one coupon for the same item in the same store and in the same shopping trip that a person bought items from. To the member I am quoting what type of store have you received catalina coupons from. I was wondering are catalina coupons only offered at one store such as a certain grocery store.

I did use 2 coupons for the chex mix, that was how I got 4 bags for $2. I dont have time to do more than 1 transaction in a single visit to a store. I just write out a shopping list, put my coupons I am going to use with that list and do my shopping and do 1 transaction. I usually have 2 of my 3 kids with me so I dont have time to deal with more than that.
yes, all coupons state that you have to pay sales tax on items if the item is taxable.
coupon stacking is where you use 2 coupons (a store coupon and manufacturer coupon) for 1 item... such stores that allows that is walgreens, target, cvs and meijer that I know of.
I have received catalina coupons from meijer and Kroger so far...I am sure other stores do that but I shop only a couple stores in the area.
most stores will let you use up to 4 coupons of the same ....but you have to read the coupon and check with your store for their coupon policy.

stealth..... no I dont extreme coupon, I just coupon to save on what I can. Like last friday I went to meijer and did a grocery shopping trip w/ my coupons and my total bill I paid for was 77.83 and my savings was 62.80 w/ using the coupons with the sale that was going on. so my total bill would have been around 140. -- and I got things like yogurt, ground beef, frozen chicken, fruit --not all things that required coupons.

To the member I am quoting if you were wondering why I asked you the following in a post in this thread on June 20, 2012 than the reason why I asked you the following is because I believe I recall seeing in an episode of Extreme Couponing where a lady had to separate the items she bought from a grocery store in at least two transactions in order to use the coupons she had with her.-If you did use two coupons to buy chex mix snack bags than were you able to use both coupons on the same receipt or did you have to separate some of what you bought so two receipts printed out in the same store on the day you bought chex mix snack bags. To the member I am quoting I was wondering if you know why walgreens, target, cvs and meijer, etc allow coupon stacking. How did you learn about coupon stacking and that the stores you mentioned allow coupon stacking? To the member I am quoting when you have received catalina coupons than do the coupons say catalina on them. To the member I am quoting what items have you bought that you have received catalina coupons from buying those items. If you are ok answering what I asked and you don't want to share the brand name and or store brand of the items you bought to receive catalina coupons than I hope you will share the type of items you bought to receive catalina coupons. To the member I am quoting when you said most stores will let you use up to 4 coupons of the same than how did you learn this and are you referring to using 4 coupons in the same store and shopping trip. If I am right on what I said than if a person wanted to use more than 4 of the same coupon at a store the person already used 4 coupons at than would the person be allowed to use the coupons over 4 another time in the same day and or another day.

sweetangel.....yes, if you are going to use more than allowed coupons in one transaction then you must do more than one transaction. if the store policy says it will only double the first 2 coupons of the like and you want to use more than 2 coupons then you have to do more than 1 transaction.
I have no idea why they allow coupon stacking other than it will bring more customers to their store.... I learned from sites like couponmom.com , coupondivas.com, saving dollar and sense.... etc, sites like those will do coupon matchups for you to see what will work for you.
no, the catalinas dont say it on the coupons....it is something I learned from extreme couponing and if you go to youtube and search extreme couponing you will learn a lot from that too.
the last 2 catalinas I received were from Yoplait yogurts.... if a sales ad states that if you purchase so many of 1 item that you will receive cash back on your next order -- that is a notification of a catalina deal.
you have to read the coupon..... if it says limit 2 or allow only 4 like coupons that means if you have a coupon for kraft salad dressing (just an example) and it says allow only 4 like coupons....then you can only use 4 coupons per transaction of the kraft salad dressing coupon. If you have 8 coupons and want to use them all in the same trip then you have to do 2 transactions.... you have to check with your store policy to see how many coupons are allowed per transaction....some stores only allow up to 35 coupons per transaction and then you shop according to that and how many coupons you have to use.
I hope that helps.

stealth...no I dont really, I have a couple aunts that coupon but not to the extreme. I have an aunt who does extreme shopping but doesnt use coupons, LOL I learned more about the coupons from the show extreme couponing but when I shop I pick up 3 or 4 items of one thing....like laundry soap, packs of cookies, things like that I am going to use up in the next month or so. although I would love to try a larger shopping trip sometimes.
