alot of people aren't even allowed to return home because it's just too dangerous right now. some don't even know what, if anything, they have left.

I know, so sad. We talked to my b/f niece today, she said it is just unbeleivable. The people are devestated.

i hope they rebuild soon...bigger and better. i love galveston as a vacation spot, have gone there most summers of my life.

Yeah...but unfortunately Ike was definitely on par with Katrina. Just the people of Texas learned from the victims of Katrina's mistakes and evacuated so not as many lives were lost. Therefore, it isn't being taken as seriously as Katrina was.

Thank God they did learn from Katrina, most any way. But any time lives are lost and so many homes destroyed, it's serious.

I agree Ike seems to be pretty close to par of Katrina but people seemed to be better prepared and took the situation more seriously.

Still there are several that stayed. I hope there aren't more tragedies. These people have been through so much.
