I posted this in the wrong area. So Im posting it here also. Well Looks like I will be the first to post something here. HA. I took these pics this morning, of the ice on some of the trees near our house, and my rose bush in my front yard. Iowa got hit pretty hard again with this ice storm, and believe it or not, our town was spared a great deal. ;D The one thing I don't like about winter is the ice, but, in this situation, it makes for the most beautiful winter wonderland imaginable. Especially at night when the Christmas lights are shining through under the ice. Its amazing. I know allot of folks in other states also were hit hard with this ice storm, feel free to post your pics also. ;D

Wow, look at that ice! That tree is totally covered! Have you had any power outage problems?

We were very fortunate in town, didnt lose our power at all. In the country is a different story. Alot of power outages etc. Schools were cancelled for 2 days and some schools are still closed. For Oskaloosa, it was alot of rain, which then froze, where as other parts of the state was freezing rain. When my hubby was coming home from work at 3 in the morning, he said on one curve, he turned the wheel but the truck went straight. With this junk even 4 w d doesn't help. LOL. I wish I had gotten some night pics tho. With the lights in my rose bush, and the ice, it was awesome. Today the sun was out in full force and most of the ice has melted off now. But its still really pretty outside. I'm just glad I work online doing this and don't have to go out in it LMAO.

oh one more reason why we didn't have it as bad as some. Our trees here in town are already a disaster from the last ice storm we had. Took out most of the trees, so, there really wasn't allot of weak limbs left to break off. Last years ice storm was wicked. I have some pics on my other computer Ill pull off and post, maybe tomorrow. We did lose power then, and you just sat in this silence, and listened to trees break and fall for hours on end.

Oh wow, I remember growing up in Washington state (we usually had pretty mild winters) but, one year we had an ice storm and it looked just like those pics...and we lost power for almost a week! I loved it because I remember having no school! I'm glad for you that this year's is a little bit more mild, although ice can be a very scary thing to drive on. Make sure you're husband stays safe! I bet it does look great at night, the icicles glistening! Thanks for the pics, I'd love to see more I wish I had some pretty winter pics but, all we have are chilling winds.

These are pics from last winters ice storm. It was late in the winter if I remember correctly. The worst one we ever had was a few yrs ago, and was a "thunder snow". Where it is actually snowing during a thunderstorm. It was in October, and the leaves were still on the trees, along with the heavy snow, about a foot or more if I remember right, it took out power for some for a couple weeks. It looked like a war zone driving around. In fact my sister and brother in law are from ND and they were here for that one, and said they had never seen anything like it. My husband was still a fire fighter EMT then, and they had a record 89 calls in the one day, between ambulance and fire calls. We don't get allot of snow here, being south in Iowa, but, when we get hit by any storm, we get hit good. LOL.

Oh wow...if you paint then you should. I could actually try and find some better pics of these storms. I just thew some up here. LOL. On the other puter I have some awesome pics we took this summer of a tornado warning too. My daughter Brenda and I are not real smart when it comes to these storms. LMAO. We sent the kids to the basement and we are outside getting pics with the digital camera. ;D Let me know if you would need a better picture for you to paint by. Will be happy to see what I have.

Yes, painting is a very small hobby of mine. I'd rather put up some original stuff on our walls, than store bought pictures. I love, love the first pic you posted in the second batch. With the houses and full shots of the trees! Beautiful!

Yeah that is a cool pic. My daughter and son in law lived in the white house right behind the one in the picture. She would call me about every 5 minutes saying..there goes another tree. LOL! My husband and I have NO trees left in our yard. We own a very old home, over a hundred yrs old, and had beautiful old old pine trees. About 6 yrs ago they got some sort of disease and whiped out all 3 of them. Our last tree we took down a year ago due to it rotting, and back in 93 a tornado took out our beautiful 70 yr old magnolia tree. But hey...saves on raking..LMAO..and of course..my husband LOVED going over to the fire chiefs house with the last storm, and laughing as he cleaned up a crap load of tree limbs. LOL. But we did offer to help him too...LOL Im sure I have the original to that pic, not resized, if you need it let me know.
