Oh my WORD! So I started school today...I'm taking 2 classes...they are 100% online....and in just one class, I have to read like 200 pages before SUNDAY. And we're talking about BIG textbook pages, with two columns on each page! History of photography, so it's all names and dates. (sample: "In February 1839, upon learning of the work, England's Sir John Fredrick William Herschel (1792-1871), an astronomer and chemist, informed Daguerre of his own discovery that hyposulphite of soda ("hypo") would "fix his camera pictures and make them permanent") 200 pages of that in the next 6 days! That's just ONE class! Not to mention the other reading, the CD-ROMS I have to watch, the class discussions that I have to take part in, the homework assignments, and the quizzes. I hope I can do this!!!! I work from home during the week, have 3 small kids, work away from home on the weekends, and still have to find time to spend with my family (and clean, etc), and find time to work-out. I feel a little sick to my stomach

SUPER MOM!! ;DYou can do it girl! Stay focused and master the art of skim reading with a highlighter (that's what I do). But, you do sound busy, don't forget to take deep breaths every now and then. I recommend (at least for this first week) to make an hourly schedule for yourself. Like, 1pm read for an hour..ect. good luck and make us proud!

You can do it hun! Just keep forging ahead. At home school can be very hard. I know this since I'm doing it myself. What will happen is that you'll basically have a full day. If you ever need some support and source of inspiration to keep on going you know we're all here for you. You'll be such a good example of hard work for your children someday, God willing.

Chin-up... move forward by taking baby steps... It's easier than trying to chew it all off at once.... That hourly schedule idea is a good one - 'cuz it's practical. I wish you the best!

You guys are so great thanks for all the encouragement! You're better at it than my "real life" friends haha. I have a "coach" from the school who checks in with me, and he's a really good encourager too. I just need to make myself a schedule and stick to it. I'm the kind of person who wants to do everything ASAP and get it all done early. But I need to learn to pace myself. I've finished 4 chapters (have 3 more to go), and I got 100% on my first quiz, and I've finished 3 assignments. I even fit my ChaCha in today. I just have to take it day-by-day, though, cause when I think about the fact that it's going to be like this EVERY DAY, I start to feel a little panicked...

Yeah, don't overload yourself with too much thinking Great to hear things are already going well! Day by day is a smart way to think about it!

Wow! I'm really happy for you. I hope it keeps going that way.
And yes, like Carolyn said, don't overload yourself with too much. Goat a nice slow pace so you can keep your sanity intact.

One of my first assignments is a self-portrait. UGH. I can't think of anything I'd rather LESS take a photo of. I've never used my tri-pod before (nor do I really know how), and it appears that it's broken! My husband bought it for me for Christmas and he's trying to fix it right now....I have no idea what to do for a self-portrait sigh.

Been doing it since 2002! Time management is key to online education. You will be fine.

Sounds like with that schedule you would have no time for us on the forum! Alissa how are your classes going? I just started back at school myself (declared a new major)! And, I really, really forgot how time consuming it is, but it's good, just makes me prioritize my time better! I'm taking a horticulture class and we have to know the common name, scientific name (and spell it correctly), features of the plant and identify over 175 plants! Kill me now!
