Hey!
So, I got TWOOOO charlie horses today, in each of my legs! What the heck?! Does anyone know what causes them?
BTW, if charlie horse is not the right term, it's when your calf muscle gets all tight and hurts realllly bad!
I never really get them, but, I heard that it has to do with a lack of potassium.

It can be from dehydration, a medication side effect, hormones, mineral deficiency and exercise I believe. I have heard a few things that help prevent them. I don't know if they work though. I've been told to eat a banana. But my husband loves bananas and he gets them. The other thing was to put a bar of soap in the bed toward the bottom under the covers. My in-laws swear by this. However all we did was manage to kick the soap out of bed- lol I don't think I was much help

It was pretty random. But, I do know how to get rid of them, when I get them, by standing up. It sounds crazy because the muscle is so tight, but it works! But, it still hurts getting them. I have heard of the bar of soap thing too, I used to teach a water aerobics class and the women in my class swore by it too! So, maybe it works, although I'm sure I'd kick it off the bed too!

I have heard to either eat a lot of bananas for the potassium or to massage your muscles, wherever your charlie horse is. It actually helps out a lot.

I always got those HORRIBLY when I was pregnant....Always in the middle of the night, and I'd shoot straight up in bed, in pain.
If you stretch out your leg and push your heels down, it really helps although it's hard to do
