This is to the member stealth3si.
I was wondering if you know why the star symbols on a computer keyboard are called an asterisk.
To any member who reads this post I was wondering if you know of one or more reasons why a person would use an asterisk when doing anything on a computer.

People use asterisks for lots of purposes. In certain programming languages, like Python and Perl, the asterisk is used to indicate multiplation. ie 3*2 = 5. You cannot use the x to indicate multiplication because it is typically reserved as a variable. An asterisk can also indicate a footnote. The asterisk can be used a wildcard variable. In MS Excel the shortcut Shift+Cntrl+* can be used to select the current region of a cell.

If any member who reads this post knows the answer to any of the following below than it would be nice of you to share the answer(s) to what you know below.
I was wondering if any member who reads this post has ever used Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V on a computer keyboard to cut and paste something and if you have done what I am asking than how can the V in the Ctrl+V stand for paste. I know Ctrl+P can't stand for paste since Ctrl+P stands for print so that is why I asked what I asked in this paragraph of this post about Ctrl+V.
I was wondering is Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V, Ctrl+P, etc considered keyboard shortcuts and if they are than how are they considered keyboard shortcuts. If I am right on what I asked in this paragraph of this post than why does Ctrl need to be used with a letter on a computer keyboard to be able to use a shortcut on a computer keyboard.

Those functions are second-nature to me. To the member I am quoting what do you mean by second nature. To the member I am quoting are you referring to Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V and or Ctrl+P in the quote I am quoting from you. If I am right on what I said above than how are the things I mentioned second-nature to you.

To any member who reads this post if you use other keyboard shortcuts other than the ones I mentioned in a post in this thread on Feb 16, 2012 than what is or are the shortcuts you use. If any member does answer what I am asking than can you also share what the keyboard shortcut does.
I was wondering is Ctrl+Alt+Delete a keyboard shortcut. If what I am asking is a keyboard shortcut than the keyboard shortcut I mentioned in this paragraph of this post goes to the Windows Task Manger. I was wondering does the keyboard shortcut I am asking about in this paragraph of this post work with any version of Windows.

Depending on the OS it brings you to a menu. To the member I am quoting are you referring to the Ctrl+Alt+Delete keyboard shortcut that I mentioned in a post in this thread on Feb 18, 2012 in the quote I am quoting from you. If I am right on what I asked above than are you saying the Ctrl+Alt+Delete keyboard shortcut doesn't go to the Windows Task Manager in all operating systems and if I am right on this than what do you mean by menu and what operating systems show a menu and not a Windows Task Manager when the Ctrl+Alt+Delete a keyboard shortcut is used on a computer.

Windows 7 doesn't show task manager. To the member I am quoting is task manager a Windows feature and if it is than why does Windows 7 not show a task manager. To the member I am quoting since you said what you said in the quote I am quoting from you than does Ctr+Alt+Delete show something else when used on a keyboard that is connected to a computer that uses Windows 7. If Windows 7 does show something else when Ctr+Alt+Delete is used than what does Ctr+Alt+Delete show. To the member I am quoting how do you know what you said in the quote I am quoting from you. Have you used a computer with Windows 7 on it and that is how you know what you said in the quote I am quoting from you. If I am wrong on what I said than let me know this.
