HI everyone.. I'm not into downer posts, etc, but, I would really like for you to all please pray for my daughter. She is 30 yrs old and just got married in July. She has just been diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma cancer. She is in good spirits and other than the incision on her neck from the surgery on Friday she feels very good and has an upbeat and very positive attitude for fighting this. She is a remarkable strong young woman. But I do know prayers help, so when you pray, just send up a little extra one for Steff. Thanks so much Becky younggram

Thanks so much. My friend and I were just laughing at my story of Steff before surgery. She is a "gotta wear my makeup so im pretty" kind of person, and went so far as to show the nurses how she looks "with makeup on" ;D then, after surgery, we go into the recovery room, and she has the orange iodine stuff all over her face, I of course cracked up, and she had to use my cell phone to take a pic so she could see. She freaked. LOL...had to know for sure that yes it does wash off. Here is a pic of her from her my space. The only thing that has her down about this is losing her hair, but, we are looking into having her own hair made into a wig. Thanks again for the thoughts and prayers.

Thank you! She can sing like NO other also. One of her favorite songs to sing is "At Last", and I had the CD in with etta singing it, and my grandkids thought it was their "aunt booty" as they call her. LOL.

Update on Steff All the results are in, and basically, if you can call cancer good news, her news was pretty good. Her lymphoma is a stage 2, there are 4 stages, stage 4 being the worse. She will start chemo next wednesday, and has found a wig place where she can get a real hair wig for around 600, and her insurance will pay 500 of that. This way she will be able to style it color it or whatever she wants to do. Sounds like the chemo will be done in around 4 months. Thats the latest.

Thanks for the update. I'm glad it's not the most severe stage (of course) and I think it'll be kind of fun to wear a wig - it's awesome that it's real! Is your daughter able to be home, or is she staying at the hospital?

She is home..will go in every other week for chemo. In fact she and her husband are down here for the weekend. She told me she has a surprise, and came in with her hair cut. It is so cute. They also wont need to put a "port" in for the chemo, and this is a good thing. Alot of times now they put a port in, and they can get infected so easily. she wouldn't be able to go into a swimming pool etc with a port. Our grandson had a port in last year for his chemo, and every time he ran a temp of 100 or above, he was in the hospital for a minimum of 3 days so they could run tests to make sure the port wasn't infected. She is looking at 4 months of chemo, then she should be done. so this is also very good news. And the woman who cut her hair will shave her head a week after chemo, which is when her hair will begin to fall out. All in all her spirits are good. She got pretty upset the other day and called me, scared, and very upset about losing her hair. Finally I had to do a reality check on her, and told her...Steff, your hair will grow back, think about the adults and children who lose an arm or a leg to cancer, those DONT grow back. That worked thank goodness. But I also know how scary this is for her. Since I have been through this too, but, I never had to have chemo, so like I told her, I cant imagine how scary that is to think about.

Young Gram - Update on your daughter please??? How'd her first chemo go? S'belle Hi there S'belle Here is an update, sorry it took so long to answer, we just got home from a very much needed vacation to Arizona. ;D Steff is doing as well as can be expected. Her hair fell out enough that she had her husband shave the rest off, and the treatments have her very tired, and achy, but, all in all she is doing well. She thought it was only 8 treatments, but, it will be 12 total. Her spirits are good for the most part, she calls upset, and we get her laughing. She has her real hair wig, and then went ahead and ordered a synthetic one also. She and Brian are heading to Nashville this morning for the weekend, for some concert. So this will be good for her also to just get away. As a mom, I spend my time on the phone with her, making her laugh, and being a little tough too. Like when she is super depressed about her hair, I remind her, some people, children especially, lose an arm, leg etc to cancer, and those don't grow back. This seems to bring her back around, and she realizes then how lucky she really is. 2 treatments down and 10 to go. Thats how I tell her to look at this. We are all just so thankful it isn't more serious. Thanks for asking about her.

Heck, if she's getting a wigs, she ought to get some of those really outrageous big long red curly hair ones! That's what me and my girls did when my friend lost her hair. We put on our "tramp hair" and went out partying!!! Great for the spirits!
I'm glad you're there to cheer her up and give her a little grief when she needs it!

She just called from Nashville, and they will be seeing some band called fair to midland, or something like that. They are friends with a few of them in the band. Im feeling old coz i have NO clue who they are. LOL. But at least she is having fun.
