I read about ccleaner in a magazine and I wanted to know if anyone has used this computer program. If anyone has used ccleaner than did you go to ccleaner.com to be able to download ccleaner. If you did go to ccleaner.com than how come when I tried going to ccleaner.com it went to www.piriform.com/ccleaner . If www.piriform.com/ccleaner is the correct website to download ccleaner from or one of the websites a person can download ccleaner from than let me know this. I was wondering what anyone who has used ccleaner thought about this program after using it. Did ccleaner work as well as the website said it does? What I mean by does ccleaner work as well as the website says it does is did ccleaner do what the website said it does such as making your windows computer faster and to be able to do the things shown in the screenshots on www.piriform.com/ccleaner website. When I went to screenshots on the website link I shared it mentioned the registry cleaner. I read years ago online that if a person doesn't know much about how the internal workings of a computer works the person shouldn't be deleting things from a computers registry. Why would anyone want to delete any of the windows system restore points? If ccleaner can also delete cookies on a computer than why would a member want to use ccleaner to delete cookies when a person can delete cookies on a computer faster by doing it through a web browser and not through a computer program such as ccleaner. Does ccleaner let a person remove check marks from categories that a person doesn't want analyzed during a ccleaner scan so that way whatever wasn't analyzed will not be deleted? Is ccleaner really free to use. I asked it it's free to use because I know someone who has download programs to a computer to try to fix a problem on a computer and the scans the programs did was free with the programs that were downloaded, but to remove what the scans found the person would have had to pay money so that is why I asked if ccleaner is free to delete things it finds from a computer.

The site owners bought the domain name, so no other party can own it For example if you type in ipod.com on your address bar it will go to apple.com "When I went to screenshots on the website link I shared it mentioned the registry cleaner. It never effected my computer negatively before although there are always horror stories. I find a registry cleaner to not be that useful though. It is true that a user should not manually change their registry unless they know what they are doing "Why would anyone want to delete any of the windows system restore points?"I would only delete the restore points if malware corrupted it. It does happen with alot of malware to prevent the user from using system restore. They do ask for optional donations though.

Typosquatting is an example of what happens if someone who doesn't own the product has the domain name of the product. It's what piriform is trying to avoid by buying the ccleaner.com domain name For example, typosquatting is if Microsoft owned the domain name ipod.com and redirected to zune.com. That would probably be illegal though If Ccleaner just deletes random junk from the registry than how does one know that what Ccleaner is deleting from a computer registry is safe to be deleting. Personally I don't know much about registry cleaners, and I don't really use them. Usually a computer slowdown is caused by other sources. There are certain horror stories on the internet about all registry cleaners(computer crashing, etc.). I tried it, and my computer was fine though, but it didn't improve either. I would say that the registry cleaner isn't necessary. To the member I am quoting what did you mean by malware in the following thing you said. What I am asking is what is malware.-I would only delete the restore points if malware corrupted it. I am glad to know that Ccleaner will allow a person to uncheck anything they don't want deleted. Yes, it's useful I was wondering is the only way not to have something deleted is by not having a category in Ccleaner be analyzed. The analyzed option is to check what will be deleted if you decide to run the cleaner. Nothing will be deleted if you analyze. I was wondering is it safe to delete anything Ccleaner finds if a member doesn't uncheck a check mark in a Ccleaner category of what Ccleaner will analyze. The cleaner is pretty safe, and the default checked items are usually junk items that the cleaner recommends to delete. Does Ccleaner allow a prson to read the names of each item it found and wants a person to delete before a person deletes what Ccleaner found when doing a scan?Yes, make sure you use analyze. It will show a list of items that it would delete if you ran the cleaner. If you double click on a item it shows a bunch of files that it will delete. Also you can keep certain cookies you would like to keep by going to options>cookies and move cookies to the "keep cookies" section

I'm not too sure, but I think .com websites are more popular because most people are used to seeing and hearing about .com more than .org or .net.
As for domain names, .com's would attract more traffic, no?
Yes, I believe alot of people like clicking on .com links more.

I decided to download CCleaner on July 15, 2010 and I wanted to know if anyone knows any of the answers to the following below.
When I clicked on Cleaner there is a Windows and Applications section under Cleaner?
Here are things I wanted to know under Windows.
What is Index.dat files?
Why would anyone want to delete anything from Recent Documents and Run (in Start Menu) by doing this through CCleaner?
What is Last Download Location, Other Explorer MRUs, Memory Dumps and Windows Log Files?
Here are things I wanted to know under Applications.
I see under FireFox/Mozilla Internet Cache and I was wondering what Internet Cache is.
Why would anyone want to delete anything under Applications which is under FireFox/Mozilla on the computer I downloaded CCleaner to?
Why would anyone want to delete anything under Utilities and under Windows?
When I clicked on Registry it shows a list of items under Registry Integrity and I was wondering what Missing Shared DLLS is, what are File Extensions, what are Active X and Class Issues, what is Type Libraries, what is Application Paths, what is Start Menu Ordering and what is MUI Cache.
When I clicked on Tools I see that there is a Run Uninstaller and I was wondering what Run Uninstaller is.
I wonder why CCleaner will allow a person to Rename Entry. I didn't know a person could rename any program that was downloaded to a computer.
Is Delete Entry used to delete any programs from the Programs to Remove list under Tools.
Why would anyone want to click on Save to text file and what is Save to text file used for?
How come some things under Cleaner and under Registry already have a check mark in the box to the left of certain items and some don't have a check mark in box to the left of certain items, but a person can manually put a check mark in the box themselves for items that don't have a check mark in the box to the left of those items?

As far as GPT goes, there are two items you should be mostly concerned about in CCleaner: "cookies" and "internet cache (aka "temporary internet files.") You want to tick them to help improve credit ratio for either IE or FF or whatever IB you're using.
Tick "index.dat files" if you tick "temporary internet files."

To the member I am quoting or to anyone else who reads this post I was wondering if anyone knows why some internet browsers say cache and some say temporary internet files if both of these are the same thing and internet browsers don't all say cache or all say temporary internet files. I was wondering if anyone knows why clearing temporary inernet files in Ccleaner or by clearing or deleting cache or temporary internet files by doing it in a internet browser may help improve credit ratio. Just so others know I rarely delete temporary internet files in IE and I am still able to get credited for offers on the SquishyCash website. To the member I am quoting why should a person click on "index.dat files" if the person clicked on "temporary internet files" in Ccleaner? I still don't know what "index.dat files is for.
